Goodbyes have been said, classes have started, and many athletic careers have been left at high school — but they don’t have to be. It may seem like sports at S.U. are limited to athletes, anyone can play on an intramural team.
Shenandoah offers a wide range of intramural sports for students to participate in. Students have the option of playing indoor soccer, basketball, volleyball, flag football, as well as others. In order to participate in an intramural sport players must register through imleagues.com.
Intramural sports are great way to stay active and reach out to new people. Students can either join as a free agent or join as a team with other students interested in playing their sport. The more people who decide to join a league the better.
Intramural sports are a great way to relax and release stress after a tough week of classes. They offer a way to stay physically active while having fun and interacting with other members of the student body.
A game can be played with the utmost intensity, or it can be easy going and carefree. The choice is up to the team.
This past semester I joined the women’s basketball league. No one on the team had touched a basketball in what seemed like years, so naturally it was a bit nerve-wracking to step back on the court. But, that is part of the fun of intramural sports. It’s okay if you’re not Lebron James on the basketball court or Mia Hamm on the soccer field. Play to have fun and I can guarantee you’ll be coming back for more.
