Zayn Malik is most known for being a member of the popular boy band, One Direction. He has now moved on to a solo career. Leaving everything behind in One Direction and starting fresh, he wanted to be a normal 22 year old and be able to be himself.  When he announced his solo career, all odds were against him, and no one thought he would succeed. It just wasn’t possible for him to leave One Direction, one of the biggest bands in the world and go solo. He had to start from scratch, and that he did, he made it into the music world with a solo career.

The first single, “Pillow Talk,” off of his debut solo album Mind of Mine was released Jan. 29. It immediately went straight to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and the top songs on iTunes.  He is the first UK artist to debut at number one with a first charted single, “Pillow Talk,” is not only dominating the charts – it’s the only thing people want to listen to now! It is alternative R&B, and has a bit of an electronic feel to it, making it the perfect sound for today.

His album Mind of Mine is being released March 25 of this year – exactly one year since he left One Direction.  A lot of fans are excited and nervous for his album (I know I am.) There is so much that could happen with this album, and so many new doors are being opened for him, but so many are closing too. His album is highly anticipated to go to number one just like, “Pillow Talk,” did; we’ll all just have to wait and see.
