The Shenandoah University’s men’s basketball team fell in a close match to Eastern Mennonite University on Wednesday with a final score of 101 to 95.
After a tight game, the Hornets forced overtime and held the lead in the first minutes with the help of sophomore guard and sports management major Dalon McHugh, who earned the Hornets’ only overtime points with a free throw. The extra minutes resulted in a 10-2 run in favor of the Eastern Mennonite Royals.
The top scorer for the Hornets was senior guard Malcolm Clark, a kinesiology major. Clark put up big numbers for Shenandoah, with 28 points, 15 rebounds, and 3 steals.
Other top players included McHugh, who put up a season high of 18 points, and was perfect from the free throw line.
The men’s team will be back in action again on Saturday, Jan. 28 at 2 p.m. at Randolph College.
