MLB Season Kick Off vs. COVID

“Play Ball”.

Even with all the craziness that has been happening in the past year, there has still been a bright spot to look forward to. For the sports fan, there was happiness to be found on the screen as most sports teams have been continuing to play games. As the NFL season finished the other day with the Super Bowl, the kickoff of Major League Baseball is right around the corner.

Last season the Los Angeles Dodgers hosted the Commissioner’s Trophy after beating the Tampa Bay Rays in six games in the World Series. Starting this season they are listed as the favorites to win the World Series again, followed by the New York Yankees, San Diego Padres and the Chicago White Sox.

This season they are looking to play 162 games without cancellation or delays. Multiple delays and cancellations happened last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The players have to take multiple Covid tests during the season, but they are willing to do almost anything to get on the diamond and run the 90 feet to each base again.

With the season kicking off in a little longer than a month, there are only two words that most Baseball fans are waiting to hear, “Play Ball”.
