By Demitri Matenopoulos
Welcome all, my name is Demitri Matenopoulos, a senior Media and Communication major here at Shenandoah University. I hope you’ll join me as I walk around campus this semester getting to know some familiar and not-so-familiar faces and sharing what I learn about my new friends in a weekly column in The Buzz I like to call Look Who I Ran Into. I hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I have!
Look who I ran into at Buzzins today.
This is my friend Nick Verner. He is a senior Media and Communications major and Film minor here at SU. Something he loves about studying his major at SU is that he’s always learning new things and using the things he learns to add to his toolkit. His favorite thing about going to SU is the opening community and how it really allows you to find your group and who you are as a young adult. He’s from Springfield, Virginia, and his favorite thing about home is that there is so much to do that he never gets bored. One of his favorite family traditions is going to the movies every Christmas Eve. Some of his hobbies include walking around the park, hanging out with friends, and writing scripts and story ideas for films. If he had a warning label on him it would say, “Will always fidget.” He also has a hidden talent for impersonations of voices. Some of his best impersonations include Johnny Depp and Mark Wahlberg. His biggest fear is darkness. The three things he would take to a deserted island would be his girlfriend, a spile to get fresh water out of a tree, and a rope to grab things high up.
Get out there and meet someone new every day. You never know what you’ll find out about people you think you know!
