Welcome all, my name is Demitri Matenopoulos, a senior Media and Communication major here at Shenandoah University. I hope you’ll join me as I walk around campus this semester getting to know some familiar and not-so-familiar faces and sharing what I learn about my new friends in a weekly column in The Buzz I like to call Look Who I Ran Into.

Look who I ran into at the bookstore today.

It’s my friend Malique Hughes. He is a senior E-Sports major from Richmond, Virginia. A couple personality traits that he shares with his family are being independent and hard-working. The thing that means the most to him in his life is his family and especially his mom. One of his favorite family traditions is waiting until midnight on Christmas Eve to open one gift.

Malique likes to spend his free time sleeping, eating, and playing video games. If he could have any animal as a pet, he would want a panda because he thinks they are the cutest animal. He said one place he could spend the rest of his life in is the Caribbean. His dream car is a Corvette Stingray. If he had to listen to one musical group or artist exclusively, he would pick Chris Brown because he thinks no matter what he puts out is always good.

He loves the one-on-one conversations that he has with his professors about class material and how he can go the extra mile in his studies. Following graduation, he wants to work in the operations side of E-Sports where he can oversee, coordinate, and plan tournaments and events. His favorite thing about Shenandoah is the people and how welcoming and sweet everyone is.
