Supreme Court Justice Anton Scalia was discovered dead this Saturday, Feb. 13. President Obama announced that he will send a new nomination to replace Scalia in the coming months, although Senate Republicans seemed to have suggested that they would rather wait until Obama finished his last term for a new appointee.

On Feb. 6, 2016, at approximately 3 a.m. EST, the country of Taiwan was hit by a magnitude 6.4 earthquake that caused a 17-story apartment building in Tainan City to collapse like a house of cards. There have been 32 confirmed deaths.

The 50th Super Bowl on Sunday, Feb. 8, had the second highest rating in Super Bowl history, but it was a little less than an exciting game. For many fans, this game was a chance for Peyton Manning, quarterback of the Denver Broncos to retire from the NFL on a good note. On the other hand, Cam Newton, a young rising quarterback star lead his Panthers to the Super Bowl and had a large fan base coming with him.
